Krassy K1LZ donates all yagi antennas for WRTC 2022 !

[16/02/2021]

Hi to all !

The WRTC 2022 Organizing Committee, host of the 2022 World Radiosport Team Championship competition, is pleased to announce that Krassy, K1LZ, has donated the triband yagi antennas that will be used during the competition. These antennas will be used by all competitors during the July, 2022 competition that will be held in Bologna, Italy.

This is the most important donation for WRTC 2022 !  We are very much indebted to Krassy for his very significant donation and thank him for it.  His donation provides great encouragement to us during these difficult pandemic times as we continue forward and overcome the totally unforeseen obstacles to a successful WRTC.

The LZ Antenna special edition LZA 7-3 consists of seven elements: two full-sized elements for 20 meters, two full-sized elements for 15 meters, and three full-sized elements for 10 meters, all fed through a balun with a single 50-ohm coax cable.  The optimized design yields excellent results (calculated considering ground reflection gain):

14 MHz - 11.96dBi, F/B 15.74dB
21 MHz  -12.29dBi, F/B 15.36 dB
28 MHz - 13.1 dBi,  F/B 17.87 dB

The antenna was specifically designed for low weight, lack of traps, good forward gain, and excellent front-to-back and front-to-side ratios.  The antenna also is easy to construct in the field and compatible for use with a triplexer.  Stations in the field will be spaced suitable distances from each other during the competition, and this antenna will reduce even further the potential for interference with other competitors.

Krassy sent us an antenna for testing that we used during the 2020 IARU Championship. We are happy to report that its performance exceeded our expectations. It was really great. While testing it during the contest we worked K1LZ and he asked us if we were using an amplifier... “astonishing signal” was his comment!

Krassy, K1LZ is a long-time substantial supporter of earlier WRTCs and we thank him again for giving us a needed boost during these difficult times.  Krassy himself has competed in five earlier WRTCs. When not contesting, Krassy works as the CEO of Milara, Inc. He has been a major financial contributor to earlier WRTCs and numerous DXpeditions for several decades.

We express our gratitude to everyone supporting WRTC 2022. If you are able, we would really appreciate your helping us with a donation.  As a thank you for your donation, you will be included in the list of donors and receive the official Donation Certificate in digital format. Donation information is at this link: https://www.wrtc2022.it/en/donations-16.asp.

We look forward to seeing you in person at a hamfest or club meeting as soon as doing so is safe.
