I was licensed in 1989 as KB5ILS, then AB5EA when I upgraded to Extra, finally AD5A in 1996. I became a pile up junkie by doing IOTA Expeditions. I operated from deserted islands with calls like VK9AR ,H74C and H75A. Effectively, these are small around the clock, Multi-op operations. Accordingly, I am no stranger to operating portable from a tent, with one or in some cases two other stations, After I retired I had time to build a serious contest station in South Texas. I'm a member of the Central Texas DX and Contest Club which is blessed to have many former WRTC participants to learn from.
